Requalification of the Esplanade: the first phase voted on

FOCUS – The Grenoble municipal council has voted for the first phase of the urban redevelopment project for the Esplanade district, this 1is February 2021. This one aims to re-qualify and vegetate the central space, the large Esplanade located at Porte-de-France, and with it the Boulevard de l’Esplanade. A project worth 7 million euros whose work will start next fall for delivery in 2023.

Launched in 2009 by the municipality of Michel Destot, the requalification project of Esplanade district has experienced many controversies over the past decade.

And this, even after December 2017, date on which the City of Grenoble and the Metropolis decided to sign a transformation project of the large Esplanade and its boulevard.

After a consultation phase, studies carried out in 2019 and 2020 then led to a review of the initial development program. As well as a new approach in the management of wooded heritage. Also, reports the City of Grenoble, the total budget has been reassessed to reach nearly 7 million euros including tax (against 3.5 previously).

This Monday 1is February 2021, the first deliberation of the municipal council concerned precisely the first phase of the project. Namely, the one aimed at redeveloping and vegetating the central space, the large Esplanade located at Porte-de-France, and with it the Boulevard de l’Esplanade. All by 2023.
