Republican Majority Party in the House of Representatives – US Elections

Washington ∙ As US midterm elections are counted, the Republican Party is getting closer to the majority in the House of Representatives. It is not clear who controls the Senate. In the 435-member House of Representatives, the Republican Party won 210 seats. If we get 8 more seats, it becomes a majority. Currently, President Joe Biden’s Democratic Party holds the majority in the House. The outcome of the 33 seats in which the counting of votes is still in progress is unpredictable.

The two sides are tied in the major Senate races in Nevada and Arizona. The final result could be by tonight. A ballot for the Georgia Senate seat could be held on December 6 if no one gets 50% of the vote. Currently, both sides have equal seats in the Senate.

Even with a meager majority in the House of Representatives, Republicans can control political decisions for the remaining 2 years of Biden’s tenure. It is indicated that Republican Kevin McCarthy will compete for the position of president. White House sources said Biden had a phone conversation with McCarthy. The president also stated that he will collaborate with the Republican side.
