One third of the European population has been vaccinated against Covid-19, according to the WHO

About a billion doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been used in the European region to date, the World Health Organization (WHO) said on Wednesday.

“This is a great achievement,” said Hans Kluge, WHO Regional Director for Europe.

This progress means that about a third of the population in the European region has been vaccinated.

However, in order to limit the pandemic, vaccination coverage needs to be increased and regional disparities need to be overcome, Kluges said.

Universal vaccination at 70% is still a goal to alleviate the Covid-19 crisis, said the WHO Regional Director for Europe.

The WHO European Region has 53 countries, including three Caucasus countries, five Central Asian countries, Israel and Turkey.
