Reported 2 feet of snow causes 87,000 people to remain without power in northern NY

New York authorities maintain alert due to the intense snowfall in the north of the state that has left more than 87,000 people without electricity.

According to official information, some areas in the north of the State They recorded nearly two feet of snow with peak snowfall rates of six inches per hour.

Parts of the Capital Region received a foot and a half of snow, and the Mid-Hudson and Southern Tier Regions received more than a foot of snow since Monday night.

Governor Kathy Hochul said the winter storm is expected to continue to affect several regions today along with strong gusts of wind that can reach 45 miles per hour.

As of 2 p.m. Tuesday, authorities reported, there were approximately 87,000 power outages across the state as a result of the storm.

Most of the cuts affected counties in the Capital Region.
