Report against John and Johnny de Mol: this has happened so far | NOW

What started with a marriage proposal has ended in returns back and forth. The relationship of Shima Kaes and Johnny de Mol has been over for years, but has resulted in a lot of hassle for both parties in recent weeks. NU.nl provides an overview of who is suing and reporting whom.

John de Mol reports attempted extortion

The Public Prosecution confirms on November 25 that John de Mol has reported a threat, a form of extortion. De Mol writes in the declaration that he has received a letter with a proposal for a settlement on incriminating information in a book by Mark Koster about the De Mol family that will be published at that time. The report is directed against Karim Aachboun and Ed Aerts, the legal advisers behind the letter. The gentlemen represent Shima Kaes, who was engaged to De Mol’s son Johnny. Johnny is also involved in the declaration.

The book contains a passage about the turbulent love affair between Johnny de Mol and Kaes, who had been together for over a year and became engaged before their relationship ended in 2015. The relationship would have involved abuse, De Mol has denied this.

Shima Kaes files a complaint against Johnny de Mol

Two days later, on November 27, Kaes announces in turn that she will file a complaint against her ex. Kaes denies having contributed to Mark Koster’s book and her advisers write in a letter that Kaes has been unfairly disadvantaged by the De Mol family.

“Now that the client is being unfairly attacked by the family, she is forced to defend herself against this.” The declaration is made in the Netherlands, Mexico and Spain. Why that happens in those countries is not clear from the statement.

Legal action will also follow against Koster. “Before his book, we announced to Mr Koster that we would start summary proceedings against him because of his announcement to publish incriminating private information (of my client) in the short term.”

Advisors Shima Kaes file a complaint against the De Mol family

The story turns out to be unfinished on November 30: Aachboun and Aerts announce that they will file a complaint against Johnny and John de Mol. According to Kaes’s advisers, the father and son’s declaration is unfounded and so it is a false declaration, they argue.

Aerts and Aachboun reveal that a letter was already sent to the De Mol family in September, but that no implicit or explicit mention was made of money in exchange for withholding information. “Nowhere in the letter is it indicated to exchange audio and visual material for money.”
