Three weeks from the possible reopening of gyms and swimming pools, the Cts has validated the new rules studied by the Ministry of Sport.

The document concerns more generally the reopening of sports facilities which should be modulated differently depending on the color of the regions.
Any activity can only be carried out by avoiding aggregations and however allowing sports especially to young and old to play. The document reads: “In this phase of the sustained epidemic, the potential finding of aggregations between people within sports facilities, especially in closed and confined environments, is assessed with great concern. But it is particularly believed the return to the use of physical activities is important, especially in subjects in developmental age and in individuals with chronic diseases and in the elderly, in which psycho-physical well-being acquires a fundamental dimension on the state of health”.

Sports activities allowed area by area

This is the subdivision of the sports allowed according to the color of the regions (or of the individual areas affected by local lockdowns):

  • Red zone and areas subject to local lockdowns: allowed jogging and individual outdoor sports.
  • Orange zone: in addition to the activities allowed in the red zone, also individual training in gyms, swimming pools and tensile structures but only for basic individual activities, including aquatic ones, in addition to non-team or non-contact amateur ones. Furthermore, “training for contact sports and team sports is allowed only if carried out individually, in compliance with the distancing and the prohibition of gathering”, reads the document of the CTS.
  • Yellow zone: in addition to the activities allowed in the red zone and the orange zone, training for amateur and grassroots contact and team sports.

The rules in the gym: individual lessons, showers prohibited

In the first phase of the reopening of the gyms only individual lessons are provided, maintaining the interpersonal distance of at least two meters and cleaning the contact areas of each tool with a sanitizing product. Tools and materials must always be sanitized. You must use your own mats or mats to be sanitized after each use.
Clothing worn for physical activity cannot be left in the changing rooms, but must be stored in backpacks or personal bags.
The use of showers is prohibited.
Operators must wear a mask, make disinfectant gels available and sanitize tools.
Dispensers must be provided in a widespread manner in all transit points, including the entrance to the plant, access to the changing rooms and services as well as accesses to the various areas.

The rules in the pool: 10 meters available

The square meters available to swimmers must be 10. For the changing rooms the same rules apply as for gyms. Out of the tub the mask the CTS believes that the mask must be mandatory used by coaches and athletes. In case of awards “it is advisable to avoid any type of award ceremony involving hostesses and authorities and the prizes must be sanitized, placed on a platform and taken directly by the athletes”.
