Renowned Psychologist Reidar Hjermann Joins TV Program “The Family Code” as Expert and Advisor

Psychologist Reidar Hjermann is best known for having been a children’s ombudsman for a number of years in the 2000s.

Now he is ready for the role of expert and adviser in “The Family Code”.

Lighten the veil

In February, the news came that Kathrine Moholt would return to the TV screen as presenter of a program about growing up and parenting styles.

When the news broke, there was little information to be had about the upcoming concept. Even the name of the program was kept secret at the time.

Now, however, TV 2’s press team is lifting the veil. In a fresh press release press manager Jan-Petter Dahl says the following:

– “The family code” is a program that concerns everyone, which we create to reach a much larger audience than those who read books about child-rearing, says TV 2’s press manager, Jan-Petter Dahl.

Dahl also makes no secret of how pleased he is to have Reidar Hjermann join the team.

– That a capacity such as Reidar Hjermann has agreed to be involved as an expert and advisor for the participants and out to the public is an enormous strength for us, and we are very grateful to have him on the team, says Dahl.

“The Family Code” will follow nine families, where the parents have chosen completely different ways of raising their children. They are given tasks that put their families to the test while the camera theme follows them.

The exercise ends with the parents watching a video of themselves and the other families, and then they discuss the choices that were made.

– Spent

In the press release, Hjerman explains why he has faith in the concept:

– We humans are herd animals and learn best when we can mirror ourselves in what we see. “The family code” gives us an insight into a variety of everyday situations in quite different families with children, so that all parents who follow the series can recognize their own challenges and get answers to a number of questions about the parenting role. And it happens at the same time that it is entertaining and fun to watch. I am quite sure that the “Family Code” will contribute to lively discussions in the thousands of homes, so that the parents out there make conscious choices in their everyday lives on behalf of themselves and their children, he says.

– What do you think about having a role in such a programme?

– As I have the Convention on the Rights of the Child’s principle of “the best interests of the child” as a guideline in everything I do, I am a little excited. I hope that as a professional and mediator I reach out to the public in a good way, and I think it will go well.
