Renovation of buildings. Launch of tax assistance for businesses

Since the beginning of October, small and medium-sized businesses have benefited from tax assistance for energy renovation of their buildings. “This exceptional tax credit is intended for very small businesses (TPE) and (to) small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs), from all sectors of activity combined, subject to income tax or tax on companies, owners or tenants of their premises, which undertake work to improve the energy efficiency of their buildings ”, the government said in a statement.

“The amount of this tax credit is 30% of eligible expenses, up to a limit of € 25,000 per company”, he detailed, specifying that the aid had been in force since 1is October.

The eligible work concerns insulation, heating, ventilation, and, only in Overseas Territories, protection against solar radiation and air conditioning.

A budget of nearly 200 million euros

With a budget of some 200 million euros, this aid is only a small part of the measures taken by the government to encourage the renovation of buildings.

He made it one of the main axes of his recovery plan, announced at the beginning of September with the aim of sustainably pulling the economy out of the coronavirus crisis.

In this context, the executive has already announced a plan to renovate public buildings, as well as an extension of the bonus intended for individuals, MaPrimeRénov‘. These two measures represent more than six billion euros.

Since 2019, assistance to individuals has in fact been distributed in the form of a bonus very quickly paid after the start of the work, the idea being to facilitate the act of renovation through immediate financial support.

Aid to businesses, on the other hand, retains the format of a tax advantage, as was the case a few years ago for individuals, via the energy transition tax credit.
