Renault. Unions denounce disguised “forced departures”

The CGT, CFDT, CFE-CGC and SUD unions of the technical center of Renault at Lardy (Essonne) denounced, this Monday, May 10, the “More and more pressure is put on employees to push them to leave” whereas the direction had committed itself on a plan of voluntary departures.

“Renault does not ensure a professional future for its employees and invites them to look elsewhere”, denounced Florent Grimaldi, secretary general of the CGT Renault-Lardy.

With the other unions, he denounces “Outsourcing” 27 employees, including 17 from the Lardy site, forced to leave Renault to join one of the many subcontractors working at the technocentre.

“Management can send us to a small box without our having a say. The message is to say that it is better to leave with the collective contractual rupture (RCC) and a small bonus ”, estimated Florent Grimaldi.

“The volunteers do not rush to leave”

Renault’s restructuring plan provides for the elimination of 2,500 engineering jobs through early retirement or an RCC open until next fall.

Or “The volunteers do not rush to leave”, said Florent Grimaldi. In March, only 300 candidates to leave had come forward, according to the unions.

Philippe, one of the employees concerned by the outsourcing, saw the situation as “A betrayal, a stab in the back”. Returned to Renault at 19 and with 36 years of seniority, he now says he no longer knows where he is.

“The passion for the automobile in me”

“I have more of a diamond in my heart than anything else, I have a passion for the automobile in me. But today I am completely demotivated and the attitude of the management which from one day to the next swings us into the unknown, it is very difficult to live with ”, he said.

The inter-union also denounced the elimination of positions of certain employees, invited to apply elsewhere in the company when there are not enough offers. “At Lardy, we have 158 positions abolished over the year 2020 for around 23 positions available for mobility”, detailed Florent Grimaldi.

“We don’t tell you that you are at the door, but the only way we show you is the RCC”, denounced Hélène, an employee whose position was abolished.

A day of walkout is scheduled for May 20 at several sites in France, including that of Lardy. At the end of May 2020, Renault announced a plan to cut 15,000 jobs worldwide, including 4,600 in France.
