Removing the Negative Stigma of PLWHA, Bakrie Amanah Holds Talkshow

Meanwhile Anindhita A. Bakrie, who is better known by her nickname Ditha, expressed her support for the collaboration in commemoration of World AIDS Day to grow and maintain awareness of the Indonesian people, especially in knowing and understanding HIV / AIDS, including eliminating the negative stigma that often occurs in PLWHA.

Talkshow guided by Dimas Akbar, deputy chairman of the Jakarta youth organization, discussing various topics, from the definition of HIV & AIDS, PLWHA and their history of development in Indonesia, prevention and transmission, to facts about the stigma experienced by people living with HIV AIDS (PLWHA) and how to live side by side with PLWHA.

The first material was delivered by dr. David Eka Prasetya SpOG, who conveyed information about HIV and AIDS, modes of transmission, prevention and behavior on how we should coexist with HIV and AIDS survivors. Continued by Paquita Widjaja, from the Aids Indonesia Foundation. He conveyed the origin and purpose of establishing the Indonesian AIDS Foundation, the development of HIV & AIDS in Indonesia and the issue of HIV and AIDS in today’s society as well as important future programs for HIV / AIDS and PLWHA.

Event talkshow also an ODHA who talked about his experiences with his background of being infected, his current condition and about the stigma and discrimination he had experienced. Paquita Widjaja, in her closing statement, expressed her appreciation to those who still pay attention to HIV / AIDS and PLWHA and advised that this activity should not be merely ceremonial because the commemoration of Aids Day which happens to be celebrated by the whole world, but can be continued with various follow-up programs in particular include education, advocacy for HIV / Aids, including PLWHA.
