“Remembrance Day in Chartres: Honoring Victims and Deportation Heroes”

Standard bearers, military delegations, the Chartres band, authorities and spectators gathered at 11 a.m. on the Jean-Moulin esplanade in Chartres, on this day of remembrance of the victims and deportation hero.

A long message, written jointly by the National Federation of Deportees, Internees, Resistance fighters and Patriots (FNDIRP), by the Foundation for the Memory of Deportation (FMD), by the memory associations of the Nazi camps and by the National Union of associations of deportees and internees of the resistance and families (UNADIF-FNDIR), was read by Jean-Philippe Lampin, president of the latter.

Then the authorities and representatives of associations laid seven wreaths. Supporters’ songs and the Marseilles were sung.
