Remembering Ladislav Županič: Actor, Voice Actor, and Theater Director

Ladislav Županič, actor, voice actor and theater director, died at the age of 80. In the past, he also worked as the director of the Karlín Music Theater.

As stated on the Czech social network Actors Association, the Czech theater actor Ladislav Županič died at the age of 80. Among other things, he became famous for his position as a dubber, in which he also lent his voice to Clint Eastwood, Paul Hogan and Mel Gibson, but he also worked as the director of the Karlín Music Theater for ten years.

As they stated Novinky.cz, Županič was born in Prostějov in 1943. After graduating from Brno’s Janáček Academy of Performing Arts in 1964, he began working in the theater of small forms Paravan. After a short engagement in Vít Nejedlý’s Army Corps, he joined the Karlín Music Theater in 1970, of which he later became the director.

Županič starred in dozens of Czech films and series, including the famous films Noc na Karlštejn, Secrets of the Castle in the Carpathians or the fairy tales Princess of the Mill. In 2016, he won the Thalia Theater Award for his lifetime championship in the musical-operetta category. The actor was married three times, his second wife was the well-known Czech actress Jana Drbohlavová.
