The eclipse will occur on May 26, 2021 or coincide with Vesak Day.
For Muslims, at every eclipse of this month, it is recommended to hold the circumcision prayer. It is called the khusuf circumcision prayer. The two rekaat prayers with each rekaat consist of two rukuk. Then after the congregational prayer followed by a sermon.
The National Aeronautics and Space Agency (Lapan) said that the upcoming GBT phenomenon is very special because it occurs every 195 years.
In addition, this lunar eclipse coincides with the occurrence of Perige, which is when the Moon is in the closest distance to Earth, or so-called Super Moon.
Red lunar eclipse In addition to appearing bigger than usual, at the time of the lunar eclipse, the moon will also appear red due to the habituation of sunlight by the Earth’s atmosphere.
“Therefore, this time GBT is also called the Super Red Moon or Super Blood Moon,” said Lapan’s statement on Instagram, Tuesday (18/5/2021).
In Indonesia, this eclipse can be witnessed in all regions of the country. Lapan said, to watch the Super Red GBT, you don’t need to use any optical tools.
