It’s time to take over for Remco Evenepoel. And the 20-year-old rider seems ready to pick up the thread of his prodigious start to his career where he left off last spring. “I’m very excited. It’s a little strange, I feel like this is the first race of my career. The first leg is going to be fast, nervous and very dangerous. But it should be interesting and fun”, confesses the Brabançon.
After running and winning the Tours of San Juan and Algarve at the start of the season, the Deceuninck – Quick-Step rider is about to tackle an even higher mountain. With adversity of a caliber clearly superior to what he had faced in January and February. “It’s going to be a different race compared to San Juan or Portugal. I think the races I’m competing in are more and more difficult. I’m here at the start with twenty other riders capable of winning.”, says Remco Evenepoel.
