Relocating from China, Asics shoe manufacturer will build 3 factories in Indonesia

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Minister of Industry (Menperin) And Gumiwang Kartasasmita said that a Japanese shoe manufacturer, Asics moving or relocating its factories from China to Indonesia.

“Previously they had several production facilities in China but all of them were closed and only one was left because they were moved to Indonesia,” he said in a virtual press conference, Wednesday (10/3/2021).

He revealed, Asics will build three factories, all of which are located in the Java region.

It consists of factories in Cirebon, West Java and Tegal, Central Java which are targeted to start production in January 2022.

Then another factory in Pemalang, Central Java which is planned to start production in March 2023. This also increases the number of Acsis factories to 4 in Indonesia.

“Asics has committed to developing in three locations. Now they only have one factory in Jakarta,” said Agus.

Agus said, as much as 90 percent of Asics shoe products produced in Indonesia have been exported to various countries, including the United States and Japan itself.

According to him, this shows that the industry in the country has the ability to produce high quality products that are accepted in the global market.

“This indicates that our industries, human resources in Indonesia have been able to produce high quality products that are accepted by markets that have a high prevalence,” he concluded.
