Cardinal Barbarin announced that he would “peacefully hand over his office as Archbishop of
Lyon in the hands of Pope Francis ”. “If he wishes to see me, I will go to Rome”, he continues before adding that his “thoughts” were “always towards the victims”.
Cardinal #Barbarin has just announced that he will again resign to Pope Francis (who refused it last year). “If he wants to see me, I will go to Rome,” he said. “My thoughts are always with the victims”

“Pray for me, for the diocese of Lyon that I love so much, for each of the inhabitants of this region, so that as the Lord requests, so that all may be one”, he concluded, leaving the journalists with his lawyers.
Philippe Barbarin had already resigned to the pope March 7 after his suspended sentence to six months in prison by the Lyon Criminal Court.
The latter had refused, preferring to await the outcome of the appeal trial. Cardinal Barbarin, however, retired from the affairs of the diocese of Lyon.
