Release uncertain, but there is a sign of life • Spielpunkt.net

Metroid Prime 4 has a release date for Nintendo Switch not, but at least there is a sign of life from the game, the development of which is not quite straightforward. The Texas developer Studio Retro Studios has posted a job ad in the Nintendo career portal in which graphic work is to be outsourced to an external developer.

The job posting is not uncommon for the games industry. Studios regularly use outsourcing solutions to distribute the workload. The retro studios belonging to Nintendo also make use of this and probably want to do some of the graphics work on Metroid Prime 4 for Nintendo Switch external development. While it is not certain that it is Metroid Prime 4, it is very likely.-

Postponement of Metroid Prime 4 drops share price

The job application* alone, says little about the game itself, but at least it is clear that the development seems to be progressing fundamentally. Because Metroid Prime 4 has only been developed from scratch since the beginning of 2019, this scarce information is still relevant. After all, outsourcing is primarily intended to speed up projects or meet deadlines. The release of Metroid Prime 4 for Nintendo Switch this is probably actually a good step closer.

When the move of Metroid Prime 4 for Nintendo Switch was officially announced, the Japanese group’s share price plummeted by almost three percent. This fact shows how great the (financial) hopes are in the success of the new Metroid offshoot. Although the decision had a negative impact, which made it consistent. According to Shinya Takahashi, general manager of Nintendo’s development department, the foundations that have been completed so far have not met Nintendo’s in-house standards. So the company is aware of the power of the brand – Nintendo wants to deliver with Metroid Prime 4.

The developer update published about a year ago brought anything but good news:

The game was first announced in summer 2017 as part of E3. Instead of Bandai Namco, the retro studios are now working on the project. The developer sought via the job advertisement should, among other things, adhere to the quality standards and bring experience: According to the job description, five years of experience in developing AAA titles are required for the job.

What Metroid Prime 4 will eventually release is still uncertain. Fans will probably have to wait a long time for the release. With the new start of development, the project was virtually set to zero. Even a few months later, in April 2019, the retro studios had not yet filled all the positions that were important for the development.

In the meantime, it was questionable whether Metroid Prime 4 is still at all considering the technological advancement in the console area Nintendo Switch could create. The game can now be pre-ordered. The date for the publication is December 31, 2020: this will be a placeholder – unless the retro studios could do a gigantic sprint, which is currently not expected due to a lack of information.
