Relatives request new investigation into fatal collision by trucker (45) | Inland

The truck driver is a 45-year-old resident of Melissant in South Holland. He is in custody on suspicion of manslaughter on a 47-year-old motorcycle cop. The trucker hit the motorcycle police officer on the Waalhavenweg in Rotterdam on 7 July, after which the officer died of his injuries.

The truck driver continued to drive after the collision. In 2015, the trucker was also involved in an accident, which injured another police officer.

Van Ardenne explains that the Public Prosecution Service (OM) did not prosecute the truck driver in the case of the deceased woman because of insufficient evidence for criminal offences. The lawyer is now looking at what options there are to get the case reopened. “It could be checked for the three accidents whether there were similarities on essential points,” says Van Ardenne.
