Reigning European champion Italy has lost its current top scorer, Ciro Immobile. This became clear after Luciano Spalletti sent out call-ups for the upcoming matches against Malta and England.
What is Immobile?
The 33-year-old center forward was injured in the Milan derby on September 30 and then missed the meeting with Atalanta. Spalletti spoke to Maurizio Sarri and both agreed that Immobile should not take the risk.
Let us remind you that in Group C of qualifying for Euro 2024, Italy has 7 points in 4 matches, the same for Ukraine and North Macedonia. This makes Squadra Azzurra’s victory over Malta on October 14 a must, followed by the Italians’ away match against England three days later.
