Regional tickets are becoming more expensive – Freiburg

New tariffs in the RVF area.

BREISGAU-HOCHSCHWARZWALD / FREIBURG (BZ). The prices in the Regio-Verkehrsverbund Freiburg (RVF) will change on August 1st. The background to this is an RVF message, according to the cost increases that have to be borne by the transport companies. Personnel costs increased the most in 2019, followed by acquisition costs for vehicles. The inflation-specific inflation rate would result in a cost increase of 2.2 percent. This scope for adjustment is not being fully exploited. The RVF Supervisory Board approved the adjustment on April 30.

“Because of the corona situation, we have been confronted with a sharp drop in revenues since March. However, the personnel and material costs of the transport companies continue to run almost undiminished despite the significantly lower number of passengers and some restrictions on offers. This is very burdensome for all transport companies in the network” the RVF managing directors Dorothee Koch and Florian Kurt cited.

The prices of Regio cards increase by two euros each: for the transferable cards to 64 euros per month, for the basic card to 59 euros. As a subscription, the transferable regional card costs 56 euros per month, with the annual regional card the equivalent of 53.33 euros per month. The regional ticket for schoolchildren and trainees is 1.50 euros more expensive. Monthly tickets cost EUR 37.30 in the student subscription.

Single tickets, multiple-journey tickets and the day ticket Regio-24 do not become more expensive. The short trip also continues to cost 1.50 euros for travel over up to three stops. From August 1st, a 10 percent discount will be granted for single tickets purchased by mobile. The Regio-24 cards cost around four percent less. There is also a discount for the Badisch-24 mobile connection card.

Students can look forward to a discount on the semester ticket: the price will be reduced by five euros to 89 euros in the winter semester 2020/2021. The solidarity contribution of all students increases by six to 28 euros.
