Regime blames the US for the milk shortage after buying 500 tons – 2024-03-06 01:11:45

After almost a week, the Castro regime deigned to recognize the request for help made to the World Food Program (WFP) of the United Nations (UN) due to the milk shortage, but, in an attempt to maintain his worn-out speech, he used his propaganda means to make sure that the United States was blamed for the situation.

Through an article titled ‘Faced with the tightening of the blockade, Cuba expands its cooperation with the WFP’, published in the media Cubadebate, The regime made sure to blame the US embargo for the milk shortage that plagues Cuba, ignoring the 500 tons of powdered milk that he bought from the “enemy” last week.

The article seems to be written with the objective of taking care of the international image of the Revolution, as it emphasizes that the Island has also made contributions to the aforementioned program.

“Previously, Cuba has also contributed to WFP operations with donations of certain supplies, which the Program has allocated to countries in which it operates,” indicates the note, which points out that these donations made years ago were mostly sugar, one of the many whose production on the Island is plummeting.

Briefly, the regime mentioned the 500 tons of milk purchased from the United States, making sure to make it clear that it was a fact “by virtue of the exceptions established by that Government to sell certain products to the Island, through immediate payment and cash”.

The aforementioned media stressed that the Island has managed to guarantee milk for children from zero to seven years old, although only for the next two months, this thanks to the tons purchased from the United States, a shipment of 375 tons that will arrive from Brazil, the shipment of the aid of the program and another 600 tons from “different suppliers.”

The fact that the regime acknowledged having requested help from the WFP reveals that the situation on the island is serious, since it is the first time that Cuba requests this type of help, something that did not happen even during the so-called Special Period in the 90s.

“This shows the chaotic state of the national economy. There is no production. Only three provinces have been able to supply the regulated quota for children, up to 7 years old, with national milk production,” economist Orlando Freyre Santana told the media. Radio Marti.

“The rest, to try to satisfy the supply for these children, has had to be imported. But since the country’s internal finances are in crisis, it is very difficult to have money to import all that milk,” he added.

All this makes it clear that the current economic crisis that the Greater Antilles is going through is the worst in its history.
