After a stolen car in Varna, now refugees from Ukraine were left without their jeep, which was taken from a parking lot in front of a hotel in Nessebar.
Dmitri leaves Zaporozhye with his wife, 10-month-old daughter Alina and his parents. He left for Bulgaria in his private car because he knew it was safe for refugees here. Only a day after he settled in Nessebar, his jeep was stolen.
“We are refugees from Ukraine. We came to Bulgaria and settled in a hotel. We just left the car in the parking lot and in the morning, when we woke up, it was gone, ”says Dmitry Babenko.
He alerted the police immediately, and the hotel assisted him with video surveillance footage. All that could be seen was a dark figure approaching the jeep and then the machine started. However, almost all of his family’s clothes remained in the car, as well as his parents’ luggage. Alexander Babenko, Dmitri’s father, says the only clothes are on his back.
“When the thieves opened the car, they saw a pram, a high chair and belongings inside. How come they didn’t understand that we didn’t just come on vacation “, Alexander asks.
Today Dmitri and his father visited Burgas by bus to seek assistance from the regional governor.
“There are doubts that the car may have been taken to Turkey and then sold to Syria, and we will not find it. Therefore, if the police act quickly, we can find her before she is completely gone. We’ll see if the robbers can give it back to us for ransom or the governor can help us find it. Now we have written a statement, “said Dmitry.
The Ukrainian also turned to the thieves. “If they have a little pity for people to return our car, they left us nothing,” the man said.
The presence of thousands of luxury cars without insurance, alarms and no protection in our country obviously activated car thieves. Police have already taken action.
“Naturally, the vehicles in question, especially the more luxurious ones, are likely to be the subject of criminal encroachment. To this end, in addition to the purely preventive overt measures we have taken – and this is a tour of the places where there is a concentration of both Ukrainian citizens and motor vehicles, especially the more expensive ones, we are working with the criminal contingent. We have other events that we have planned and our idea is to limit as much as possible the possibility of this type of crime, “said Chief Commissioner Kaloyan Kaloyanov, Director of the OD of the Ministry of Interior in Burgas.
In addition to car theft, cases of stolen license plates of Ukrainian cars have already been registered. “We have three such cases, including one in which Ukrainian citizens have removed them themselves,” explained Chief Commissioner Kaloyan Kaloyanov.
