Redon. A fire ravages a farmhouse in the evening

The images of the blaze are impressive. At around 7 p.m. this Wednesday, October 14, a fire broke out, for a still unknown reason, in a house at 37, rue de la Gicquelaie, in Redon. In the same building, a farmhouse, there are three dwellings. The fire caught in the middle one, occupied by a mother and her three children. The flames quickly spread to the entire roof, destroying the home.

35 firefighters on site

Luckily, the occupants were quickly able to get outside to call the emergency services. Redon firefighters were the first to intervene with a fire hose. “They were able to prevent the fire from spreading to the other adjoining houses”, notes Lieutenant Franck Enizan, the commander of relief operations.

They were joined by their colleagues from Guipry-Messac, Fégréac, Pipriac with the large scale, Bain-de-Bretagne for clearing and lighting, as well as the firefighters of Chartres-de-Bretagne with a operational support vehicle. Thirty-five firefighters intervened.

Tenants relocated by the City

The neighbors also evacuated their house during the intervention and protected their vehicles.

The fire was brought under control at around 8:30 p.m. “We’re going to stay all night, so turn it off and watch the place.” “ Enedis technicians were on site to cut off the electricity, while the GRDF technician came to check that the building was not connected to town gas.

The tenants of the three houses have been relocated by the City, said the mayor, Pascal Duchêne. The accommodations are uninhabitable as they are.
