Red Cross Hospital holds patient stop in intensive care for coronavirus | NOW

The Red Cross Hospital (RKZ) in Beverwijk stops temporarily record of new patients in the intensive care unit (ic), now that a patient has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.

The RKZ has taken this decision in consultation with RIVM. The result of a second test has yet to be done to confirm the diagnosis.

The patient in question was admitted to hospital on 28 February and there was no reason to test that person for coronavirus. Monday it was decided to do this.

Other patients in the IC, as well as their families, have been informed about the situation. The admission stop has been introduced to protect hospital staff and vulnerable patients, the hospital says. Patient care will continue and the Burns Center will remain open, the RKZ emphasizes.
