Red Bull continues to work on cars at Verstappen and Albon at night

11:23 – Red Bull Racing worked hard on the cars of Max Verstappen and Alexander Albon in the night from Friday to Saturday. The team has therefore not complied with the night clock regulations in Formula 1, but the team has now used one of the two exceptions.

The FIA reported the violation on Saturday morning: “Last night, staff from the Aston Martin Red Bull Racing team, who work to keep the car operational, within the defined boundaries of the circuit during the eight-hour period included until curfew. That period began on July 18 at 1:00 am, eleven hours before the scheduled start of VT3 and ends at 9:00 am on July 19, three hours before the start of third practice. “

Usually teams use an exception to the curfew to repair damage or install new parts on the car. In this case, according to the team, there was no exceptional reason, but the adjustment just needed to be done: “Following driver feedback, we made changes to the car, we decided to use one of the two exceptions now” , a Red Bull spokesperson said. “Not a big drama, just standard activities.”

It comes as no surprise that Red Bull worked through the night. Verstappen announced Friday after the training that the team “still has a lot of work to do”. In addition, he and Albon were not helped by the second practice for the Hungarian GP, which largely fell into the water due to rainfall.
