Record Sales and International Contracts: Israeli Defense Companies Thrive

Israeli defense companies posted record sales last year

Elbit Systems, one of the three largest defense companies in Israelannounced that she had received $135 million contract to set up an artillery ammunition factory for an international customer. “The contract will be executed over a period of two years,” the company said, reports the Jerusalem Post.

This happens after the Swedish subsidiary of the company received a contract worth 170 million dollars, to become an “integration partner” for the digitalization program of the Swedish Army. The new contract will “leverage the considerable technical and operational knowledge accumulated by Elbit Systems, as well as decades of experience in munitions manufacturing. Elbit Systems builds and operates munitions factories and production lines at multiple sites,” the company said.

“There is increasing demand from governments around the world interested in improving their sovereign munitions production capabilities. Supporting our customers and sharing our experience with international partners is a key element of our multinational global growth strategy in addition to our ongoing investment in expanding our own production capabilities,” said Yehuda (Udi) Vered, General Manager of Elbit Systems Land .

The Importance of Ammunition Supplies
Ammunition supplies have become increasingly important following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022. This is especially true of 155mm ammunition. Elbit says their “expertise spans the entire product cycle, from design to manufacturing, as well as support and after-sales support.”

Israeli defense companies posted record sales last year. However, the war that started on October 7 generally overshadowed some of the companies’ work.

Mepro Light announced last week that it has received contract for tens of thousands of MEPRO MOR sights, to be sold to a South American country. The company, a member of the SK Group (founded by Sami Katsav), describes itself as “a leading manufacturer of electro-optical systems, thermal and night vision equipment, as well as self-illuminating sights for military, law enforcement and civilian applications.”

The MEPRO MOR “effectively addresses three separate needs within a single, advanced product – functioning as a battery-free passive reflex sight, a visible pointer, and an invisible IR pointer. Therefore, this advanced solution results in significant cost savings, covering operational and maintenance costs that would otherwise be incurred by deploying three separate sights. In addition, MEPRO MOR sights improve mission flexibility, further enhancing its utility and adaptability.
