Until 5 p.m. this Friday, 1,609 cases of the new coronavirus were recorded in Morocco, bringing to 49,247 the number of people infected since the start of this pandemic, or a rate of new infections of 4.4 per 100,000 inhabitants. “We thus reach 135.6 cumulative infections per 100,000 inhabitants”, declared the director of the National Center for Emergency Operations, Dr. Mouad Mrabet, during the daily press briefing of the Ministry of Health.
Morocco recorded 1,393 new healings, bringing the total number to 34,199, with a remission rate of 69.4%. On the other hand, 42 deaths are to be deplored, bringing to 817 the number of people who have died from Covid-19, with a case fatality rate of 1.7%. These deaths were recorded in Casablanca (10), Tangier (7), Marrakech (6), Fès (6), Errachidia (3), Guercif (2), Khenifra (1), Azilal (1), Fqih Ben Salah ( 1), Khouribga (1), Temara (1), Salé (1), Larache (1), Tetouan (1).
The country now has 14,231 active cases under treatment (39.2 per 100,000 inhabitants on average). As before, they are mainly distributed between Casablanca-Settat, Marrakech-Safi, Rabat-Salé, Fès-Meknes, Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceïma and Beni Mellal-Khénifra. The lowest number, less than 100, is in the regions of Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra and Guelmim-Oued Noun. The number of critically ill patients has now reached 196, including 76 under respiratory assistance (42 on invasive ventilators).
As for the geographical distribution of infections over the past 24 hours, Casablanca-Settat has 488 new cases: 420 in Casablanca, 18 in Nouaceur, 14 in Settat, 13 Berrechid, 12 in Benslimane, 7 in Mohammedia, 2 El Jadida and 2 Mediouna . Next comes Fès-Meknes with 257 new infections: 89 in Fès, 62 in Sefrou, 37 in Meknes, 26 in Taza, 23 in Boulemane, 14 in Taounate, 5 in Ifrane and 1 in Moulay Yaacoub.
Infectious outbreak in Inezgane Aït Melloul
In the region of Souss-Massa, 213 infections have been confirmed: 166 in Inezgane Aït Melloul, 22 in Agadir Ida Outanane, 17 in Tiznit, Taroudant, 7 in Taroudant and 1 in Chtouka Aït Baha. Marrakech-Safi follows with 186 new cases: 118 in Marrakech, 24 in El Haouz, 14 in Kelaa des Sraghna, 14 in El Youssoufia, 7 in Chichaoua, 7 in Essaouira and 2 in Rhamna.
Rabat-Salé-Kénitra has 134 new infections: 32 in Skhirat-Témara, 27 in Kénitra, 23 in Salé, 22 in Sidi Kacem, 16 in Rabat, 9 in Sidi Slimane and 5 in Khémisset. Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceïma has identified 114: 37 in Tangier, 25 in Tetouan, 18 in M’diq-Fnideq, 17 in Larache, 9 in Ouezzane, 5 in Chefchaouen and 3 in Al Hoceima.
Beni Mellal-Khénifra has 88 new cases: 38 in Beni Mellal, 21 Azilal, 11 in Fqih Bensalah, 11 in Khouribga, 7 in Khénifra. For its part, Drâa-Tafilalet recorded 66 new infections: 32 in Ouarzazate, 23 in Errachidia, 5 in Midelt, 4 in Tinghir and 2 in Zagora. As for the Oriental, 38 cases were recorded there: 10 in Guercif, 8 in Oujda Angad, 7 in Nador, 5 in Figuig, 4 in Berkane, 3 in Jerada and 1 in Driouch.
The Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra region recorded 11 cases: 8 in Laâyoune, 2 in Boujdour and 1 in Es-Smara. Dakhla-Oued Ed-Dahab confirmed 10: 8 in Oued Ed Dahab and 2 in Aousserd. Finally in the Guelmim-Oued Noun region will have counted 2, all in Tan Tan.
