Argentina registered 8,225 Covid-19 infections this Thursday, the highest single-day figure since the coronavirus pandemic was declared, reported the Ministry of Health.
The global count of infections rose to 320,871, with 6,517 deaths and 233,651 people recovered.
The new wave of infected occurred three days after a new opposition march in the center of Buenos Aires to demand that the government end the measures of social isolation, which the protesters see as a way to restrict the freedom of citizens.
The fatality rate in Argentina is estimated at 115 per million people, in a country of 44 million inhabitants.
The isolation measures are maintained, but they are very flexible in the metropolitan area of Buenos Aires and its surroundings, while they are now more rigorous in several provinces where the circulation of the virus increased considerably.
