Record-Breaking Crowds and Exciting Atmospheres in Ligue 2’s Second Day: ASSE-Grenoble Reigns Supreme

The second day of Ligue 2 ended on Monday with the move of the promoted Concarnois to Bordeaux. This 2nd day was the theater of good crowds and beautiful atmospheres in many stadiums. But no one was able to dethrone the crowds at ASSE – Grenoble. Results after two days.

Several popular clubs at home this weekend

If last week, the crowds had been disappointing, with the exception of ASSE – GF38, this week, the figures are rather good and herald a season possibly still record in this regard.

This weekend, several clubs with significant fervor played at home. Auxerre, Bastia, Caen and Bordeaux. Thanks to them, 4 out of 10 posters welcomed more than 14,000 spectators: Bordeaux/Concarneau, Caen/Paris FC, Auxerre/Amiens and Bastia/Valenciennes.

Quite logically, it was the Bordeaux match which had the best attendance with 24,574 supporters present at the Matmut Atlantique. It is also important to note that for this meeting, the South Turn was behind closed doors.

As for the rather disappointing crowds, we can note that of Grenoble against Paris FC with only 3,743 supporters. The ongoing school holidays may be an explanatory factor.

For its part, ASSE’s trip to Rodez is the 9th and penultimate attendance of the 2nd day: 3,263 supporters. And yet, the stadium was sold out, no more places were available, proof of the enthusiasm around the meeting.

The crowds of the 2nd day of Ligue 2

Bordeaux – Concarneau: 24,574 Caen – Pau FC: 15,168 Auxerre – Amiens: 14,682 Bastia – VAFC: 14,127 Guingamp – Dunkirk: 8,294 Angers – Annecy: 5,083 Troyes – Laval: 4,697 Grenoble – Paris FC: 3,743 Rodez – ASSE: 3,263 QRM – A jaccio : 2.705

ASSE keeps the lead throughout the season

If we combine the crowds of J1 and J2, 153,178 supporters have visited stadiums since the start of the L2 season (2 matches took place behind closed doors). The average attendance is therefore 8,510 supporters per match.

Last season, the average attendance after 2 matchdays was 7,278 supporters/match. A significant increase this year is therefore notable.

After 2 days and 18 matches played with the public, ASSE still holds the attendance record for the season, established during the reception of Grenoble on August 5: 25,412 supporters. Behind, the following 4 crowds were made this weekend.
