Inventory of the first manufactured batch of the Volkswagen Nivus was depleted so quickly that it even caught the brand itself by surprise. The presale of this SUV Coupé began in Brazil this Friday, June 26.
Not the most optimistic of commercial and marketing executives could have foreseen the phenomenon that the Volkswagen Nivus awoke in Brazil. After the start of its presale yesterday, June 26, and even in the midst of the deep economic crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, all the existing units of the SUV Coupé they were booked in just two hours.
As reported by the company, models from the Highline Launching Edition release version they ran out of reserves in seven minutes. The remaining models sold out over the course of two hours. In total they were 1,200 units they found a buyer in record time.
Pablo Di Si, President and CEO of Volkswagen for Latin America, stated that “it is an even more incredible achievement because it is a launch made andn a scenario of uncertainty, totally done through digital media and without anyone, customers or journalists, who has tested the car” And really, it’s a milestone.
Latin flavor
During its premiere at the end of last May, Volkswagen highlighted that the new Nivus inaugurates a new market segment mixing elements of SUV with lines of a sports coupe. Its development was carried out entirely in Brazil, and resulted in the Latin America’s “first smart car” with the new VW Play multimedia center and various driving aids.
All its versions move thanks to a motor 1.0 Turbo TSI of 128 horsepower and 200 Nm from 2,000 rpm, always connected to a six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive.
Likewise, among the available security technologies are the adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, fatigue detector and post-collision braking. It also incorporates explorer lights (with ‘cornering’ function) and LED daytime running lights, light and rain sensors and proximity sensors.
For the start of its commercialization, only two versions of this model will be sold in Brazil: Comfortline 200 TSI and Highline 200 TSI. Respectively, the prices arranged for them in the neighboring country are 85,890 and 98,290 reais. Those values are equivalent to approximately 60 to 70 million Colombian pesos, approximately.
As confirmed by the brand itself, the Volkswagen Nivus will arrive in Colombia in the first months of 2021. For now, the German firm celebrates the launch of its new image in our country.
