The Norwegian Directorate of Health has published these requirements from Standard Norway for cloth bandages.
materials:
- The materials must withstand use and wear
- Use dense fabrics. Put together in two or three layers (same fabrics or different fabrics)
- Use fabrics that you can breathe through
- Use fabrics that are sufficiently soft and supple so that they adhere tightly to the face, as a seal
- Use fabrics that are not too hot
- Use smooth, non-irritating substances
- Do not use light and loose fabrics
- Do not use material for vacuum cleaner bags or insulation material used in buildings, diapers, etc.
- Do not use textiles that may cause allergies or rashes
- The material must absorb moisture to prevent condensation
Design:
- Wash the fabric in at least 60 degrees heat before cutting
- Do not use staples when designing or installing the mouthpiece
- The mouthpiece must not be sewn with vertical seams along the nose, mouth or chin
- There is no requirement for a separate mechanism for connection to the nose
- There is also no requirement for the mouthpiece to be fastened behind the ears or in the neck
Use
- The mouthpiece must be discarded at the first sign of injury
- It must be washed between each use
- The mouthpiece must withstand cleaning in hot water, at least 60 degrees
- It is not recommended that children under the age of three wear such bandages
