Recipients of the Latgalian Culture Annual Award ‘Boņuks 2020’ have been awarded

The folk ensemble “Upīte” became the recipient of the public sympathy voting prize, which was organized by the Latgalian culture news portal lakuga.lv and the Latvian public media portal lsm.lv and in which anyone could vote for their sympathy – “Žyka”.

The organizers of the ceremony – the team of Latgale Embassy “Gors” – emphasize that, despite the unusual circumstances, last year was very rich and diverse in Latgalian culture, noteworthy events and personalities were in music, publishing, performing arts and cinema. Therefore, special satisfaction for all 30 nominees selected in the initial vote, whose performance has enriched not only the Latgalian, but also the common Latvian cultural space.

This year, the “Boņuks” award ceremony took place a little differently than usual – in a live broadcast of Latvian Television, which was lived through virtual reality, led by TV presenter, comedian Jānis Skuteelis. The ceremony also featured performances by musicians of the group “Tautumeitas”, the group “Dabasu Durovys”, the group “Židrūns”, the folklore group “Upīte” and the group “Raxtu Raxti”. “Boņuks” is still the only award that especially highlights and honors the achievements and achievements in the life of Latgalian culture.
