“The Italian government will introduce a benefit for all children that will be paid from birth to the age of 21,” said Equal Opportunity and Family Minister Elena Bonetti on Thursday. The amount of this supplement has not yet been determined.

In an interview with RAI television, Minister Bonetti said the benefit would be increased from the third child.

She also explained that for disabled children, the allowance would be increased by 30-50 percent and paid throughout life.

Earlier in presenting these plans, the head of the ministry said that the allowance would be from about 80 to 160 euros depending on the family’s income. The project provides that it will be paid from the beginning of next year.
