RECENZIJA: Five Finger Death Punch “AfterLife”

The American alternative metal brigade “Five Finger Death Punch” or “5FDP” continues the started pace of studio masterpiece production – one album in two years.

Virtually all the albums of the previous decade were in the American Top 3 (or almost), but already with the previous album “F8” there was a slight drop – “only” the eighth column. If we look at it from the point of view of the charts, then “AfterLife” has been even worse, because in America it closes the Top 10, in the United Kingdom it barely remains in the Top 20, but in Germany it places the lowest step of the Top 3, but let’s stop touching: it would be nice if other heavy music brigades could boast such success.

In total, the new album includes a dozen compositions.

The producer is still Kevin Churko, due to which the group even signed a contract with another music label six years ago, because his previous representatives of “Prospect Park” wanted to add another talent to the sound console for men. led by singer Ivan Moody and guitarist Zoltan Batory. News – someone Andy James has replaced longtime guitarist Jason Hook. “” AfterLife “is my favorite record,” predictably Batory commented on this work. “This is our ninth album and we already have legions of loyal fans and our signature sound has stood the test of time. It has become his own island, our epicenter, with which we work and to which we can always return. When we started this new musical adventure, we knew we could get where we wanted thanks to the sense of freedom and permissiveness that this island gives us “.

PAR. It is normal for the best and most seasoned track to be hidden in the final part of the “5FDP” albums – this time it is the penultimate number “Gold Gutter”. True, even before that there are several memorable and captivating songs, which should be titled “AfterLife” and “Times Like These” first of all, of course also the in-depth opening piece “Welcome To The Circus”. It is unknown if there is such a musical style as alternative commercial metal, but Five Finger Death Punch could be one of its leaders.

VERSUS. With the commercialization of sound, the decline cannot be stopped, “5FDP” has become disgustingly predictable – is it really the same team that once released such an impactful work as “War Is The Answer”? No wonder that the prestigious “Metal Hammer” gave this work three stars, because it does not deserve more. There is also a question as to whether pieces like the watery “All I Know” should be subtracted from another point … It seems the chef forgot to add the spices while he was preparing all of this.
