According to the Ukrainian authorities, eight Russian soldiers have been found dead in various places in the Russian-occupied city during the last two weeks.

Rumors about the mysterious deaths are swirling in pro-Russian channels on the messaging service Telegram, we are to believe the Ukrainian city council in Mariupol.

The Russian occupiers will suspect that it is local Ukrainian residents of Mariupol who have carried it out, in displeasure with the Russian occupiers.

Six of the soldiers are said to have been stabbed and two of them shot, according to the Ukrainian media Ukrainska Pravda.

This is happening at the same time as a hope of recapturing the city is glimmering on the Ukrainian side.

– Shouldn’t define us

The siege of the port city was called “hell on earth” by one resident. It wrote Financial Times last year.

22,000 civilians were killed in the city after Russia’s full-scale invasion last year. 90 percent of the city’s infrastructure was destroyed.

Russia has claimed it is rebuilding the city. This has been contested by the city’s mayor. Bojchenko claims that only one percent of what was destroyed has been rebuilt, and only for the sake of the facade.

– This last horrific year should not be allowed to define Mariupol, he says according to The Guardian.

The mystery surrounding the dead Russians remains unsolved.
