Image of a cat made 2,000 years ago found in Peru

KOMPAS.com – A picture cat was relaxing painted in the Nazca Desert, one world heritage site UNESCO of Peru.

Quoted from BBC, Monday (19/10/2020), Nazca’s lines are rich in designs printed on the ground known as the name geoglyph which was made some 2,000 years ago.

As with other animal images at Nazca, the team of scientists believes pictures of cats it was made by carving the ground in the desert to reveal a colored patch of soil.

“The (cat) image is almost invisible and will soon disappear as it is situated on a fairly steep slope, which is prone to the effects of natural erosion,” Peru’s Ministry of Culture said in a statement.

Peruvian chief archaeologist for the Nazca lines, Johny Isla, says the cat predates Nazca culture.

According to him, the cat image actually comes from the late Paracas era, from 500 BC to 200 AD.
