According to The Verge, Instagram is developing a tool that will allow users to be protected from unsolicited intimate photos. The idea is that anyone can activate this feature, but it’s not mandatory anyway.
Meta, the company that owns Instagram, reveals to the tech site that the novelty is still in a very early stage of development, but that it could be useful to protect users from other types of unwanted messages in their DMs as well.
This tool should be similar to an existing one, Hidden Words, which automatically filters message requests that contain offensive content. In this case, the idea will be to put a notice on the image, warning the user of the presence of nudity.
Liz Fernandez, spokesperson for Meta, guarantees that the novelty will not affect the privacy of users and that the contents of the filtered messages will not be shared with third parties: “We are working closely with experts to ensure that these new features preserve people’s privacy. , giving them control over the messages they receive. “
