Alexei Batalov in life chose lovers of a similar type.

In the cult film Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears, Alexei Batalov and Vera Alentova played a couple in love. According to the plot, the ambitious and successful Katerina is fascinated by the reasoning of a simple hard worker, a locksmith Gosha. But their relationship is hampered by different social statuses.

After the film, Batalov, already known by that time, only had more fans. But in his life he preferred completely different women, not like Katerina. Even in his youth, the actor became interested in a burning Armenian woman, with whom he had his first serious romance. And then he chose a similar type among women.

His first wife was a childhood friend, Irina Rotova, whom he married at the age of 20. The marriage officially lasted 10 years, but the couple actually broke up shortly after the birth of their daughter Nadia. Irina was jealous of Batalov and believed all the rumors about his office romances. Even his family didn’t approve of his son-in-law’s acting profession.

In 1958, Alexei filed for divorce and soon began dating actress Olga Zabotkina. The brunette beauty, who became famous after the role of Katya in the movie “Two Captains”, hoped for a wedding. But Batalov was in no hurry to go down the aisle again, and then completely broke off their relationship, tired of the actress’s perseverance.

For the second time, the actor married the sultry gypsy Gitan Leontenko. Alexei did not hide his admiration for the active circus performer at the first meeting. The bright, dark-eyed, black-haired girl seemed to be his dream come true. They got married in 1963 and became parents 5 years later. Their daughter Maria was born with a diagnosis of cerebral palsy, and the couple did everything possible for the girl to live a normal life. Growing up, she became a screenwriter and writer.
