Real Madrid Renews Rodrygo Goes Contract Until 2028: Young Brazilian Winger Secured with Multimillion-Dollar Clause

Real Madrid announced this Thursday the renewal of young Brazilian winger Rodrygo Goes for five seasons until 2028, which they would have protected with a multimillion-dollar clause.

“Real Madrid and Rodrygo have agreed to extend the player’s contract, which remains linked to the club until June 30, 2028,” Real Madrid said in a statement.

The announcement of the renewal of Rodrygo, who had a contract until 2025, comes just 48 hours after that of his teammate and compatriot Vinicius Jr., who signed until 2027 with the merengue team.

“I am Real Madrid… From 2001, until 2028 with a lot of history to do. Real Madrid, I love you!”, the Brazilian winger reacted on his social networks.

“The child’s dream became more than Real! Not even in my wildest dreams could I imagine what I experience in the biggest club in the world! “He added.

Arrived in mid-2019 from Santos for 45 million, the young Brazilian winger soon showed signs of his potential.

Rodrygo is key with his decisive goals

In Madrid for two months, with less than ten games in the white shirt, Rodrygo scored a hat trick in his second Champions League game in a 6-0 win over Galatasaray, on November 6, 2019.

He became the second-youngest player to achieve this feat in modern Champions League history, since Merengue legend Raúl González in 1995.

“No one knows where his ceiling is,” Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said last May before the Champions League semi-final against Manchester City, adding that “he is a very elegant player, he moves well, he is successful against the goal and he is doing it very well.”

The top European club competition has been the one in which Rodrygo has excelled the most with 16 goals in 42 games since his arrival at the Merengue team, some decisive.

Rodrygo started the season with a drought

Back in the Champions League, Rodrygo scored the goal on October 24 that opened the way to a 2-1 victory against Braga in Portugal, ending a long scoring drought this season.

“This goal is going to help him in the next games,” said Ancelotti, after the game in Braga.

The Brazilian, already a regular in the merengue attack alongside Vinicius, will be able to continue adding matches with Real Madrid, with whom he has already played 179 games in which he has scored 39 goals, as well as increase his record.

Since his arrival, Rodrygo has won a Champions League, a Club World Cup, a European Super Cup, two Leagues, two Spanish Super Cups and a Copa del Rey.

Rodrygo was, precisely, the one who “scored the two goals in the victory (2-1) and was the MVP of the final” of the Copa del Rey against Osasuna last May.
