Real Madrid accused of bribing referees by former police commissioner Jose Manuel Villarejo. The whites does not accept that and is ready to take legal action.
The issue of referee bribery in Spanish football has been emerging recently. Barcelona became the most highlighted after being accused of paying the former vice president of the Referee Committee, Jose Maria Enriquez Negreiraduring the period 2001-2018.

“Florentino Perez bribed the referees before Barca. He was untouchable. He knows why,” Villarejo told RAC 1.
“Anyone who dares to touch Florentino is committing suicide. It is very difficult to investigate everything related to Florentino Perez,” he said.
Villarejo also accused Negreira’s case involving Barcelona of not being brought to court because Real Madrid was involved. Even so, he did not provide strong evidence regarding this.
Real Madrid does not accept Villarejo’s serious accusations. The Meringues stated that he would bring the 72 year old man to court.
“Real Madrid CF President Florentino Perez has ordered the immediate filing of the relevant legal action filed against former commissioner Villarejo for the false accusations he made on the Catalan radio station RAC1,” read the official statement. Real Madrid.
Jose Manuel Villarejo was once convicted of being involved in corruption related to Spanish politicians, businessmen and police officials. He was arrested in 2017 and spent four years in prison before being released on bail.
