Nemanja Matic never complained even though he had been eliminated from the Manchester United first team. Like a soldier, Matic is ready to accept any manager’s instructions.
Matic had a hard time getting a place in the first team from the start of the season because Solskjaer prefers Fred, Paul Pogba, and Scott McTominay. Even when Pogba was back and forth injured, Matic was still a coating.
Naturally, if his future was speculated when Matic was said to be moving the club this summer. But, Matic was reluctant to give up and stay at MU to fight for his place.
From the end of the year, Matic has always been the first choice in midfield with duet with Fred and Bruno Fernandes. He only missed the start as a starter when offset by Tottenham Hotspur on June 19.
Re-enter the first team MU makes Matic happy because his struggle for it paid off. Nemanja Matic claimed he never gave up competing as a starter because as a player, he could only follow what Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said.
“I always behave professionally and give my best when played, no matter whether it’s training or competition,” Matic told Sky Sports.
“I have been playing for a long time and situations like this are only natural, sometimes you don’t play because it’s not the coach’s first choice. You have to accept that but you have to always be professional,” he continued.
“You have to work hard, wait for the opportunity to come, and maximize it. That’s what I did.”
“Now the situation is different, the manager trusts me more. I am a soldier and I am waiting for direction from the coaching team. To be honest when you are not playing, you think things, but I try to be positive.”
“I am always confident in my quality and know the time will come if I continue to work hard,” concluded Nemanja Matic.
