The CREG also says that it must be concluded from Elia’s figures that after the nuclear phase-out, not two but three or perhaps even four gas-fired power stations will be needed to ensure the power supply. (You can read this in paragraph 128 of the CREG Proposal, which refers to “an additional need for at least one, possibly two, large CCGT units”. A CCGT is a modern large gas-fired power station.)
In the context of the discussion about the planned nuclear phase-out, where nerves are tense, this is a politically very sensitive statement.
