Leipzig (AP) – RB Leipzig has to postpone further planning with his defender Marcelo Saracchi indefinitely.
The 23-year-old from Uruguay suffered a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in a friendly against Montpellier HSC (1: 2). The Saxon Bundesliga soccer team announced this diagnosis. Saracchi had to be carried off the field and is now out for several months.
The left-back had just returned to Leipzig after his loan to Turkish first division club Galatasaray Istanbul had expired. Apparently he did not play a role in coach Jesse Marsch’s plans, another loan deal or a sale was being considered. However, Saracchi should travel to the training camp in Saalfelden in Austria on Sunday. “My thoughts are with Celo now,” said Marsch.
The all-clear, however, was given to attacker Hee-chan Hwang. The South Korean had to be replaced early, but according to RB only has muscular problems that should be cured after a few days of rest.
