“Rare Official Succession Portrait: King Charles III, Prince William and Young Prince George”

Official photos of the entire succession line are relatively rare. This is also why the picture by photographer Hugo Burnand is quite exceptional. King Charles III. on it, he is sitting on the throne chair from 1902, on his right stands the forty-year-old direct heir to the throne, Prince William of Wales, on his left is the second in line of succession, William’s nine-year-old son George.

“There’s a lot of formality in my photography, but I think I managed to show the essence of their personalities at the same time, which makes it not only a historical document but also a portrait,” he told Hello! Burnand.

The British media notice one more thing in the picture, namely that the nine-year-old George has apparently lost his shyness in front of photographers, which was evident in earlier portraits. The Little Prince according to the server Daily Mail he looks happy and relaxed.

Burnard’s coronation series of photographs is published almost a week after the coronation of Charles III, which took place on May 6, 2023.
