Ranking High: Performance Assessment of Turkish Legionnaires in European Football Leagues

As usual, the LIGABlatt takes a look at the Turkish legionnaires on Monday and gives an assessment of their performance on the previous matchday.

🇩🇪 Bundesliga

Salih Ozcan (Borussia Dortmund): In Borussia’s narrow 1-0 home win over 1. FC Köln, the midfielder sat on the bench for the entire game and was not allowed to intervene against his former club.

Ozan Kabak (TSG Hoffenheim): In the narrow 1:2 defeat of the Kraichgauer against SC Freiburg, the Turkish central defender was not only one of the best Hoffenheim players on the pitch because of his goal. (grade 2)

🇩🇪 2. Bundesliga

Kenan Karaman (Schalke 04): In the weak away game of Gelsenkirchen at Eintracht Braunschweig, Kenan Karaman only had a small part in the 0:1 defeat of his team, as he had to be replaced after 39 minutes of play due to injury. Up until then, however, his personal performance had been mixed. It is not yet known how long the 29-year-old will be out. (Grade 3.5)

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Championship

Ozan Tufan (Hull City): Tufan was on the pitch for the full 90 minutes of the 2-1 away win over Blackburn Rovers. However, the 28-year-old played a little conspicuous game, neither in a good nor in a bad sense. (Note 3)

🇪🇸 LaLiga

Arda Guler (Real Madrid): The exceptional Turkish talent is still suffering from his meniscus injury and will therefore be out for a few more weeks. So Arda was not able to participate in the 3-1 away win of the Madrilenians over Almería.

Caglar Soyuncu (Atlètico Madrid): Çağlar Söyüncü was not involved in the ‘Rojiblancos’ uneventful 0-0 draw at Real Betis as the 27-year-old was left on the bench for over 90 minutes.

Enes Unal (Getafe): The 26-year-old offensive player will be out until the end of the year with a cruciate ligament tear. In the 0: 3 at FC Girona, the absence of the Turkish attacker at Getafe was clearly noticeable.

Cenk Ozkacar (Valencia): Played 90 minutes in the 1-0 home win against UD Las Palmas and put in a very solid performance overall. (Grade 2.5)

🇬🇧 Serie A

Zeki Celik (AS Roma): The full-back had no part in Roma’s 2-2 home win over US Salernitana as he was on the bench for the entire game.

Hakan Calhanoglu (Inter Mailland): The “Nerazuri” got off to a good start in the new season with a 2-0 home win over AC Monza. Playmaker Çalhanoglu played throughout the game, pulling the strings in midfield and being one of his side’s key players with a passing accuracy rate of 93%. (grade 2)

🇫🇷 Ligue 1

Yusuf Yazici (OSC Lille): The 26-year-old came on for Jonathan David in his team’s 2-0 win over FC Nantes, but only in added time, so he was no longer able to influence the game. (No grading)

🇳🇱 Eredivisie

Oğuzhan Özyakup (Fortuna Sittard): His side beat Almere City SC 2-1 at home, with Özyakup coming on for playmaker Alen Halilović in the 71st minute. As a result, the 30-year-old made a solid game. (Note 3)

🇵🇹 Portugal

Orkun Kokcu (Benfica Lissabon): During his side’s comfortable 2-0 home win over CF Estrela Amadora, Kokçü was one of the outstanding players on the pitch and made his mark as the center of midfield at Benfica. In stoppage time, the 22-year-old strategist was substituted to great applause from Benfica fans. (Grade 1.5)

🇸🇦 Saudi Pro League

Merih Demiral (Al-Ahli): The Turkish new signing of the ten-time Saudi King Cup winner was not in the squad for his new team on the second day of the Saudi Pro League in the 3-1 away win against Khaleej and was therefore unable to intervene.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Scottish Premiership

Ridvan Yilmaz (Glasgow Rangers): There was no game in Scotland last weekend and the league will only continue with the second matchday next weekend.
