Dubai – Dubai’s Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department has announced that 1,200 permits have been issued for Iftar distribution in Dubai. Ahmed Darwish Al Muhairi, director general of the department, said that it would help to provide 12 lakh iftar meals per day. He also announced many charitable activities that citizens and expatriates can benefit from during Ramadan.
The programs are categorized into four categories namely Islamic, Cultural Community and Charity. A series of sermons will be held in multiple languages at mosques in Dubai. The activities are part of the Ramadan in Dubai campaign launched under the leadership of Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council.
∙ ‘Our moon is in our house’
Al Muhairi said it reaffirms social participation and responsibility, following the Islamic approach of promoting peaceful coexistence and fostering closeness and love among citizens and residents locally and globally. This year includes social media programs along with interactive initiatives like ‘Our Moon is in our Home’. Also, there are television programs in collaboration with Dubai Media in Corporate.
∙ Islamic cultural programs
The third session of the program covered several legal and scientific courses, including a Quran memorization competition designed for Dubai government employees under the theme “The Guardian Employee”. Also, there are knowledge programs and fatwa councils.
Hala Ramadan, We Break Hour Fast Together, Dubai Pulse and At One Table, aimed at uniting global youth, will also be held. Apart from Dubai Iftar, individuals from different religions and sects are gathered around a single table. It is the largest religious gathering in the region.
∙ Charitable activities
Many philanthropic programs have been planned to promote philanthropy. These include initiatives such as Art of the Cloth Box. There will also be programs that integrate sports, health and the Step of Life initiative. The department has also announced plans to organize and coordinate the biggest humanitarian rally as part of the Zayed Humanitarian Day.
