Dodge has just unveiled, in the United States, the new RAM 1500 TRX, designed to ridicule a certain Ford F-150 Raptor.
Dodge today unveils its new RAM 1500 TRX, designed to compete with the star of the segment: the Ford F-150 Raptor. To achieve this, Dodge uses flattering arguments. Starting with its 6.2l HEMI V8 equipped with a compressor.
The latter is able to develop 702 horsepower, for 880 Nm of torque … Enough to enable it to become the most powerful pick-up in the world. For the initiated, this engine block, whose reputation is well established, was recovered from the cars of the “Hellcat” range. The eight-speed gearbox is supplied by OEM ZF.
On the performance side, the RAM 1500 TRX accommodates a 0 to 100 km / h shot in 4.5 seconds. He is able to pull 3,674 kg. In order to guarantee braking worthy of the name, the front wheels of the pick-up accommodate huge 381mm discs.
Visually, the RAM 1500 TRX is directly inspired by the “Trophy Trucks”. It is therefore 203mm wider than a conventional RAM. In addition to giving it a more impressive look, the widened tracks allow it to better tackle obstacles at high speed. The damping has naturally been redesigned to provide more than 330mm of travel, while supporting up to a ton of pressure. The latter has also been raised by 50mm to increase the angle of attack.
On the price side, FCA advances a contained price between 94,000 and 115 US dollars. The other good news for European amateurs of this type of toy is that the importer AEC Europe will be able to offer it soon on the old continent.
