Raising the morning star flag leads to chaos at the USTJ Jayapura

Jakarta

Flag raising Bintang Kejora fell into chaos on the campus of Jayapura University of Science and Technology (USTJ), Jayapura City, Papua. There were tear gas after police attempts to make a persuasive move were ignored.

Quoted by secondsSulselFriday (11/11/2022), flag-raising Bintang The morning took place on Thursday (10/11) around 13:00 WIT. Some students unfurled two flags Bintang Morning.

“So there really is a group suspected of being students. They made speeches on the USTJ campus area explaining 2 (flags) of the Morning Star,” Jayapura City AKBP Police Chief Victor D Mackbon told detik.comThursday (11/10).

Victor said his group immediately went to the scene after receiving a report from campus. He said the campus had tried to ban it but was ignored so that he was asked to step in to secure the unscrupulous student.

Attempts were made to convince the police. However, both the members and the campus were locked at the gate until the clashes ensued.

“The members in and the administrators couldn’t get out. In the end, we appealed to them, they didn’t want to, instead they threw the officers away,” said Victor D Mackbon.

Tear Gas Release Policy

Victor said that because the persuasion efforts did not work according to current regulations, his party decided to fire tear gas.

While conducting security, Victor also said the mob threw stones at the officers. The crowd was estimated at 100 people, suspected of belonging to the group that raised the flag of the Morning Star.

“There are more or less hundreds of them, closing the fence. The members are not allowed out. It is suspected that (the crowd) is from their group,” he said.

However, the current situation on the USTJ Jayapura campus is favorable. The process of dissolution of the masses was conducted by the police around 13:00 WITA and ended around 14:30 WITA.
