What is the objective of the developers of Rainbow Six Siege over the next two years? Ubisoft answered this question this weekend during the Six Invitational competition.
In a few weeks, the kick-off to Year 5 will be given with Operation Void Edge. This season and the next will keep the current format, with the addition of two agents (there are more than 50 currently) and the redesign of a card. Then, each season will bring only one agent. To compensate for this change, Ubisoft promises agent redesigns (Tachanka will be the first) as well as major gameplay updates with emphasis on the following:
- Encourage players to be more involved during the preparation and support phases
- Develop the players’ impact on the game
- Reinvest on existing operators and cards
- Create new content and rework the existing one to change the way players interact with the environment and other players
Among the innovations announced, there is an intelligent ping system, a reputation system to reward or sanction players according to their behavior in play, and the possibility of banning cards. In addition, we will find a temporary event and a battle pass each season (starting with Operation Void Edge), as well as “Arcade Modes” only available on weekends. The first will be the “Golden Gun”: everyone will be equipped with a pistol with a single bullet killing in one shot, with the need to reload after each shot.
The developers discuss all of this in the “dev diary” below. If you missed the information earlier this morning, Rainbow Six Siege should be present at the launch of PS5 and Xbox Series X late 2020.
