The second race of the speedway Grand Prix in Prague was prematurely terminated due to heavy rain
The weather complicated Saturday’s race right from the start. At 7 pm, however, it was even more of a shower, which allowed the events to start on Markéta. The jury tried to speed up the process by shortening the breaks, but only eleven of the twenty races of the basic schedule managed to leave, then a lot of rain was raining from the clouds over Břevnov and the rain did not stop.
“We tried to adjust the track to unfavorable forecasts during the preparation, but after the twentieth hour so much water fell that it simply could not hold it and it would be dangerous to continue the race,” said the head of the Prague plant, Pavel Ondrašík.

Due to heavy rain, the second part of this year’s series was prematurely terminated and will start again from the first race on Sunday from 1 p.m. “If we managed to complete sixteen races, which guarantees four starts for each rider, the interim results could be recognized as valid, but unfortunately the weather failed, so the rules of the Grand Prix order us to restart everything on Sunday from the first race,” he said. Championship director Phil Morris.
Following the recent relaxation of anti-coronavirus measures, up to 5,000 spectators may come to the postponed race on Sunday afternoon, while Saturday tickets remain valid and other tickets are available online on Ticketportal.
